I didn’t start this website because I’m an expert in footwear. I started it because I kept falling.Living with chronic illness and disability, my balance became something I couldn’t trust anymore.
Simple things — a trip to the kitchen, a walk to the mailbox — became risks. I became what doctors call a fall risk. The ER became somewhere I knew too well.
I tried shoe after shoe. Most didn’t help. Some made things worse. Then I found a pair with a wide, stable base — and something shifted. Not a miracle. Nothing is perfect. But I could walk short distances again without my wheelchair. I could feel a little more like myself.
That’s when I realized: nobody was talking about this for people like me. Not from the inside. Not from someone who actually lives it. So I built this place. Why the Phoenix
The phoenix didn’t choose me — I chose it because it chose me first. After years of chronic illness, ER visits, and learning to navigate the world from a power wheelchair, I needed a symbol that told the truth about what survival actually looks like. Not a cure. Not a miracle. Just the stubborn, beautiful act of rising anyway — wings on fire, still moving forward. The phoenix carries pain and transformation in the same breath, and so do I. It became the heart of Resilient Art Wear because every person who finds the right shoe, reclaims a step, or simply refuses to stop — they’re part of that same story. We are all rising above the ache.
